I have recently made the decision to embark on a writing journey. I don't claim to be a thought leader or someone with profound statements to make. My intention is to write as a means of organizing my thoughts, discussing topics I find interesting and insightful, and creating a repository of my own work. Throughout my life, I have consistently aimed to be the best at everything I pursue. I believe that writing is the next step in helping me achieve my professional and personal aspirations. Like Gandalf said, once I embark on this journey of writing, I will not be the same.
Upon examining the profiles of numerous historically successful individuals, it becomes apparent that a majority of them were involved in some form of writing. Whether it's through writing or journaling, I perceive it as an incredibly constructive method of expressing thoughts and abstract emotions that may otherwise remain suppressed. In life, learning occurs through personal experiences or the experiences of others. If countless individuals who came before me found writing necessary, there's no reason why I shouldn't attempt to utilize writing to enhance myself.
This substack in particular will be called “Breaking Brad.” I chose this name because this will involve exploring new ideas, new perspectives, and challenging conventional thinking through writing. I am not completely sure what these transcripts will evolve into but I have an idea on where to start. The other day I heard someone say, “It’s a very American thing to ask someone what they do for work when first meeting them.” This statement holds profound truth and resonates deeply with me. There is so much more to people than just business. This will be the same approach I adopt for this Substack. While I expect the newsletter to predominantly focus on business, I will also infuse elements of life and self improvement.
Even if my writing never gains traction with the masses, it will be inscribed on the internet forever. What an exceptional way to leave behind a legacy. Selfishly, I hope my children or grandchildren will take the time to review my writing and gain a deeper understanding of who I am. Even if they choose not to, the option will always be available.
I consider myself exceptionally fortunate to have the life I do and the people I get to experience it with. I am excited to embark on this next challenge and to the few that read this, thank you.
